Still working through my list of tweeks and repairs and next on the list is the Ammeter.
Very easy to diagnose why it isn't working - it is not connected to anything!!!!
Can anyone guide me as to what I wire to where please?
Thanks all.
Andy

The ammeter measures the amount of current going into or out of the battery so it needs to be wired in series with the main feed from the battery to the electrical system (though not the feed from the starter solenoid to the starter motor). You will need to investigate your particular wiring setup to determine where the main electrical feed goes from, it may be from the unswitched side of the starter solenoid that has the thick cable from the battery.
If I were you I would swap the ammeter for a voltmeter. It's much easier to wire in and gives you a good idea of battery health and the charging system. For instance, you'll see the voltage fall when the headlights are on and rise when the battery is charging.

The ETB site is useful for information.

I would go the voltmeter route too.
Have you actually added up the maximum load the car can apply to the alternator? 2 headlights @ 110w, 2 indicators @ 42w, fuel injection @ God knows, 2 tail lights @ 10w, heated waistcoats etc.
Guzzi alternator is 350w as I recall - I know mine was not far off 90% capacity so I fitted LED headlamp bulbs @about 20w each. Gave me more "elbow room".
