T1 850 glowing pipe

Good morning, or it would be if I could work out why one exhaust pipe [off-side] on my pals 850, points model 1978 Guzzi is glowing red. Alarmingly so. Any help appreciated please.

Ignition timing out?
Fuel mixture too lean?
Fouled exhaust valve?
Restricted exhaust pipe?

Has he timed the ignition on the right side, then forgotten to time the left hand side individually? Easily done!

Has the engine been recently stripped, is the cam timing wrong on R/H side?
