Is it sacrilege...BMW K1200 RS 130hp?

LMs,
Have a T3 presently equipped with a MG 1100 set up. With power commander +/- 85 ish hp. I’ve been studying the BMW rig and it appears it would physically fit (would have to study mounting) but might push weight slightly forward (remember, I have second reserve tank and my fat arse counterbalancing the other end). Anybody done/tried any other set up have any comments. I use the Triking on the interstate and while I’ve had it north of 90 (145 km) mph, that has the engine/tranny fairly screaming now whereas the BMW is a 6-speed, from a cruiser so weight to power plant relationship translates better than the 400 lb bike the MG donor was. Planning another Cannonball this year (added a second reserve so now carrying nearly 18 gallons of gas).

This is not sacrilege, it's foresight, cunning, ingenuity an most important a vision.
You have the skills Brian, go for it 8-)

Curious...did you consider the 1400 from a MG California? Less a bit hp than the beemer but several more ftlbs torque at HALF the rpm. Torque is the fun part anyway. Plus you’d retain the visual spirit of the original. And I’d bet anything it’d be an easier swap fabrication-wise.

Hadn’t, no, will look at. One of my challenges is that there are no MG mechanics in my area and the guts of the engine tranny are not my forte.

The 1400 California motor would be interesting but hear it vibrates much more than the 1100 motor.

I have always thought it would be fun to install the 1200 4 valve motor from the Griso. I believe Alan built a type 3 1/2 with that motor. A bit more power never hurt, right??? Some is good, more is better, too much is just about right... At least that's what I have heard from an old race car builder i know.

If time and money permit it may just be something I may try in the future. I would love the 6 speed gearbox too but don't think it would fit with the type 3 chassis and the gear ratios don't match the California bevel drive.
