Good morning Trikingistas,
Has anyone renewed the bearings in the rear suspension on the CARC system The three point unit and the yoke?
I assume it is remove, knock out the bearings, replace worn parts, grease and replace in situ?

Hi Richard
Should be straightforward so long as not seized as I found, probably no grease on assembly.
I've a couple of photos I can send if useful.

Hi Richard
When you say the "steel spacer" is that the steel tube that the bolt goes through ? If so no, its hardened and ground. I've yet to extract the bearings hopefully tomorrow so will update progress.
Are you on FB I'll post photos there the file is too large here.

Hi Richard
I have made a spacer as the other was worn and pitted. Made from 18mm dia tool steel. As the spacer only rotates back and forth I assume tool steel will be hard enough or do you think I should harden it ?

How hard was it to machine David? If you can mark it with a file then case hardening is the way to go.

Fine. I used HSS tool to face and part off, with no problems. Drilling the bolt hole very slowly with plenty of cutting fluid.
I’ll harden and temper as advised.

One of the tips on the Moto Guzzi owners club forum was to use water pump or outboard grease.
