Engine earth question

Morning all
A question of earth straps…
I was planning on avoiding any chassis earths, with everything connecting directly back to the battery, but couldn’t find an obviously suitable point on the 8v engine - Alan has also suggested I will need to connect the chassis to the battery regardless of any additional earth straps.
So I guess the question(s) are:
A) has anybody avoided the chassis earth completely?
B) if so, where did you connect the engine to the battery?
C) and if not, where is a good point to connect battery earth to the chassis? Does it make any difference?
