Wheel spokes

Post by Doverhay » Sun Jan 06, 2019 7:04 pm

Made the mistake of turning the wheel to full lock whilst my Triking was stationary in the garage, there was a loud bang which eventually turn out to be one of the wheel spokes snapping. Please keep this in mine when turning the steering wheel stationary, not so bad if the floor is slippery but annoying if grippy😕

Hell!
Really put a spoke in it then. Well taken one out actually. Park front wheels on plastic bags or a little square of carpet perhaps?

It must be time to consider a wheel re-build ----- just saying.
Must have been too much tension on that one spoke, won't be long before others go.

Does require new tyres soon so perhaps a good check then would be a reasonable thing to do. 🧐

No so good! You think all is running well when this happens.
Only experienced spoke breakage at the hub end of the spoke on motorcycles rear wheels this caused by the stress of uneven tension. Just shows how much twisting stress there is in our front wheels.
It must be your spirited driving combined with your sticky front tyres :)
