Type 1

Post by Richard and Pat » Mon Sep 07, 2020 4:19 pm

I have a friend, no I do! Really I do. He is looking for a Springall Leather or similar steering wheel with three spokes and two trapezoid [tapering oblong, I looked it up] holes in each spoke. Not Springalex but Springall with a Triumph Herald boss. Any ideas please? Tried flea bay. Springall cannot help as they don't have the drawings any more. These were fitted to Type ones.

Anyone replaced their original and have the old one needing some work done to it, our Triking buddy would be most grateful.

Hi Richard

Is this the type of wheel your friend is looking for? 13" dia. The boss with it, I think, is Mini.
It was fitted to our Type 1 onto the original boss. I replaced it with a wood rim.
Simple job to fit if the original boss is available and is as mine was.
Rim and ally is in good condition. Can do more detailed pictures if required.
Let me know.

Best regards
Paul

Thank you Paul,
This looks just the job. Do we need to find a Triumph boss for it? I am sure Richard will be pleased, how much would you like for it please?
Best regards

We have a wheel thank you Paul.

All we need now is a suitable boss. Can we find Richard H a Boss to suit his wheel please? The centre must be suitable for a Triumph Herald which has a taper and splines. The wheel is a Springall as fitted to the Type 1 Triking [shown above with a Mini boss].

All complete!
Thank you Paul and everyone else who had suggestions. Richard now has his wheel and he has modified a centre so the job is complete.
Another success for the Trikingistas fraternity.
