Build progress
Re: Build progress
Hi Chris, am quite sure you will be in the driving seat first. Progress on bike is extremely leisurely so pop in any time.
Re: Build progress
Getting body ready for painting took longer than expected, every day I seemed to find another pin hole showing through my primer. Kept changing my mind about whether to paint it myself with aerosols or use local body shop who had quoted good price. Continuous damp, cold weather made the second option the clear favourite - particularly as the Sprayer is a classic car enthusiast who appreciates how fussy kit car builders are! He collected the body 2 weeks ago and delivered it back today, and I am really pleased with it. Before painting it he asked me to go and look at different shade samples he had obtained, we both chose the same one. It is sprayed in a gloss finish and then has a thick clear coat on top - this was not really necessary but I felt it would help avoid damage during the rest of the build.
Hope to start glueing body on next week and to collect interior kit from Alan in a couple of weeks, then apply for the dreaded MSVA.
Cheers, Tony

Re: Build progress
Better pics of painted body. It is now glued on at the front bulkhead, despite my worries it was easy to line up and stick in place. My apologies to Richard for any distress caused when I admitted that bonnet was not fitted when I did the glueing!! However, as you can see, all is well and it fits fine. Hope to finish the “sticking” over the next week.
Cheers, Tony

Re: Build progress
Really looking forward to a Kentish meeting soon
Re: Build progress
Love the colour, won't be long now.
Re: Build progress
Body now fully glued on, and paintwork intact!! Have just got to run a seal between body lip and floor under car to ensure water tight. This part of build was nowhere near as bad as I feared - should have listened to Alan and others. Currently finishing wiring rear lights and indicators in detachable back end.
Picked up trim kit last weekend, absolutely delighted with colour and quality. Next job is to fit it, so would appreciate any advice on best adhesives to use for fitting round top edges of cockpit.

Re: Build progress
Fabulous job Tony but, stop faffing about with wiring and get your MSVA booked. That's the only thing that can hold you up now!
My cockpit edging looks like it's stuck on with clear silicon sealant, quite thick around the windscreen area though.
