We have done in the past, in fact the last time we went it was a convoy of three and one of our number had a good route back avoiding the M1.

Yes, the M1 is best avoided!

Setting off from Jack's Hill, I take the minor A-roads and Bs, and usually fit in a small loop at the end to drive up the Stoneleigh Test Hill, used by Coventry's motor and motorcycle manufacturers in the '20s.

Coming back to Northampton via the A45's a quicker option which still avoids the M1.

Fingers crossed for dry weather!

Speaking of Stoneleigh hill and testing of motorcycles reminded me there's this film on YT. Take it to 8:40 or so and you'll see the hill I mean (and the bridge, but it's not that jumpy any more).

Awesome video ! Would be great to see a similar video showing how a motorcycle engine is made and put together today, for comparison .
