Depressed

Post by steveO » Tue Oct 01, 2019 3:44 pm

We got a 24"dump of snow here in Calgary this weekend and it dropped to -7C last night!
Forecast is to warm up by next weekend. This is not unusual for end of September and then October is nice.
Need to regasket cylinder heads as minor oil weep, but will have to replace cylinder base gasket at same time as it gets untorqued when heads removed. Triking has only done 10,000 km so expect no wear. Believe oil weep is simply age (1985). Gaskets on way from MG Cycle in the US.
Fuel sender has left the party so need to remove to photograph for Alan to see what the alternatives are. Original is marked Veglia and fits in the back of the tank. Drained the petrol yesterday and of course managed to spill some so garage smells. Will have to air out later. Did remember to get petrol proof sealant for refit of sender when sorted.
Had some issues with MG Convert parking brake binding but fixed now. Took a lot of fiddling to get it to the point where it held but did no bind. This is or was a new caliper I had in the parts bin and fitted as the original hand brake worked by pulling o the foot pedal.
The joys of Triking in the snow belt.

It certainly is snow joke SteveO,
As you are snowbound or will be soon unfortunately how do you feel about writing up a trip or how you built or another subject for Trifles please? I can edit if you wish, sometimes I have to, to fit everything in.
All the best

I did a CAD drawing for adaptor to fit 'dip tube' fuel sender to the Triking tank.
The standard lever arm sender only goes 2/3 down the tank.
Richard is in charge of production.
Hope you have your own snow plough!

Richard and Pat
I wish the weather had be conducive to a decent trip this year but worst summer on record. Should have emigrated to Aus. lol

Westend
interested in adaption of a dip tube sender. I have a full machine shop and welder so would not be an issue to make. Any info appreciated.

Weather is starting to pick up so may get a Margarita on the deck yet.

Awesome - I need one of these - or maybe I could convert my Triking . Alan - we need a couple of skis and a track in your Parts store for us who will soon be snowbound.
However the Messerschmitt looks a lot more cosy !
