Underside center cowl protrusion

Guessing this is to mount a wiper mechanism and could be trimmed back if not used?
Or maybe keep for a place to mount electrical components.

Yes it is to mount the windscreen wiper motor on the back and I agree it would be a good place to mount a build plate perhaps?
