CV carburetors?
CV carburetors?
The sorting continues, the original builder of my Type 1 used a set of CV carburetors from a early 80s Yamaha 650 Midnight Special. Those carburetors were factory set, non adjustable needle, capped off air screws, etc. I have removed the air screw caps now I am trying to get the jetting as correct as possible for my stock 1975 Moto Guzzi 850t. I know it’s a long shot but if anyone has had experience setting up these type mikuni CV carbs on a 850 I would greatly appreciate you input. I am currently using K&N filters and the carbs are mounted on custom manifold since those carbs were mounted as a set/ side by side.
Thanks in advance, JimRe: CV carburetors?
After a great deal of patience I am now having a great drive with the Weber 45DCOE I’ve fitted a few years ago.
Re: CV carburetors?
Thank you, I have some jets ordered and will try to see if I can make these work. If not then the Weber looks like an option. There is a company here in U.S. that offers a Mikuni set jetted and ready for the Guzzi. I have been told the CV carbs are good when properly set up. I’m afraid my manifolds might not be ideal.
Re: CV carburetors?
This is a side view, the manifold is my second attempt, the original was more compact and placed the carb lower; however, it had two 90 degree bends which seem to make the engine rather lazy to pick up.
Re: CV carburetors?
Thank you again for the photos. Did you run the original carburetor setup prior to the Weber? If so how would you describe the performance of the original 30mm carbs.
Thanks again
Thanks again
Re: CV carburetors?
I’ve not put it on a dyno, but it definitely feels a better running engine now, but then it could all be on the mind
. However, I like Weber carbs and it’s just a little different
