Reverse gearbox breeder nipple

Post by Dreamer » Tue Apr 23, 2024 5:35 am

Good morning, I am presently replacing my oils and wish to ask whether the Nova Reverse gearbox needs to have a catch tank. In my installation I had fitted a pipe from the gearbox nipple going to the rear bulkhead. I noticed a small quantity of oil. Is this correct or should I leave the nipple free for the gearbox to breathe.

It is a good idea to have a catch tank an if the pipe extends to the bottom [cut at an angle to avoid stemming the flow] it can be drawn back into the box. An empty Redex bottle, with suitable oil pipe sized hole, mounted between the offside suspension turret/mount and the petrol tank works for me. Picture to follow.

An alternative for the time-poor is a motorcycle rear brake fluid reservoir.

A Redex bottle fits snugly between the suspension support and the tank and rests on a piece of angle bolted to rear bulkhead. Also shown is a sample of the Skeomorph suggested brake reserve,

some of which come with mountings.
