Rear Brake plate locating peg

Post by Weg » Thu Sep 22, 2022 10:47 am

This is relative when fitting the 15” car type wheel at the rear.

My early swinging arm had a welded-on locator lug to prevent brake plate from turning.
The car tyre will not go past it even with no air in tyre.
I only discover this, after completing the final batch of powder coating, which included the rear wheel. Tyre never been fitted till then, not offered into position.
The Guzzi solution on later s/arms is an M14 threaded 12mm peg with a socket head on the outside. Total pain to replicate that.
Out came the angle grinder and sander.
The solution I came up with, with a bit of help from Al with the stainless components, is to weld a ½” bore tube into the s/arm leg, weld a plate onto end of ½” solid peg, then secure that in position with an M8 bolt.
Finished off with etch primer and rattlecan black.
Biggest problem was drilling the ¾” hole through the leg.
