Hi All,
I'm trying to identify the sender unit as fitted to my Type 1. I have contacted Rimmer Bros, they say it isn't a Triumph one.
Any ideas welcomed.

Put this on Fadebook [sic] and also asked Richard Howard who used to work with Tony D and he has come back with what he thinks may be a Smiths part number TBS1515005 However he has some recollection of having to modify some of the fuel senders at that time due to them being either too long or too short.

Car Builder Solutions have a good selection of horizontal mount senders and also do control box so you can adjust readings if you can’t get close enough with bending float wire, they also do vertical types if easier.

I gave up on this after we spoke a couple of years back. Alan could not help.
It turned out mine was petrol in the float and a Jeep one fitted. $5 and of course $10 postage lol.
These are a single winding of wire on a bobbin and could be repaired/rewound if stuck. Sounds complicated, but used to do similar when I was an apprentice for an instrument company. Single layer of varnished wire and you rub the varnish off with a green rubber where the slider/wiper tracks. Need to know the wire gauge and ohms per foot.
If you can get a universal with a converter sounds the way to go.

Hi All,
I have looked at Smiths part number TBS1515005 which appears similar and is a vertical mount, but doesn't have a fuel delivery pipe. I could probably modify one to fit.
I will probably end up blanking the existing sender hole and fitting a vertical sliding float type on the top of the tank.
The windings on my current sender are worn and broken.

I'm still holding out hope that someone will be able identify it

Note the PCD of the vertical type.

If fitting a vertical type you could leave the existing installed without the float arm and use just as a fuel pipe.
