For a more "period correct" look I used an old dirt track racer trick using heavy solder.

I had the mounted wheels balanced and the rim marked with the weight and position required.

Measured out the appropriate weight solder and wrapped the spokes, splitting the solder proportionally if the spot was mid spoke. They’re not going anywhere...besides centrifugal force, each is locked into position with a tiny dab of superglue.
