TRACKING
TRACKING
I'm a straightedge and string man myself, but is there a 'best practice' method for Trikings? And what's the consensus on toe-in amount?
I found a bit of feathering on my tyres so must have cocked up last time I adjusted...

Re: TRACKING
3mm toe in is about right.
Picture shows how I do it.
Note small blocks of wood glued to straight edge to contact rim.
Don't forget to roll back and forward everytime you adjust to settle the tyres on the ground.

Re: TRACKING
Hi All,
Been there done that....now I use a Trackrite floor plate.
This allows the car to be rolled over the plate and a pointer indicates the amount of out of true.
Make adjustment and retest....make adjustment etc etc
The first time it was a faff, but now it takes a couple of runs, then job done.

Thanks for the replies.
Both are a definite improvement on string. I'll knock up some wooden tracking gauges as per the picture whilst keeping my eye on Ebay for a cheap Trakrite.

Re: TRACKING
If you're still interested in a Trakrite plate you can get one for £39.16p at the moment from Tool Academy on eBay, they're doing 20% off normal price if you apply their discount code. Here's a link to it.

Re: TRACKING
Do you want to borrow one?
Re: TRACKING
Hi Richard.
Thank you for the kind offer; yes, I'd love to borrow one to have a go!
I'm a bit overwhelmed with other work at the moment (in fact the Triking is behind a wall of DIY/clearance junk at present) but as soon as I've managed to get a bit of free time I'll contact you.
Thanks again!

Re: TRACKING
I think you have my number.
I also have a better one coming and that may be available too. Just as soon as I have used it myself.

Re: TRACKING
Thanks for the offer Richard, I bought one at that price as I think I'll be tinkering a while as the suspension etc beds in...
