The charge indicator lamp is a current limiting device to provide small power supply to the charging circuit prior to start up. So best stick with a filament lamp.
Interesting to note that in the model rail world, they use a filament lamp in circuits to minimise power consumption in the event of derailment/dead short. Hmmm.
It seems a bit odd to use a analog and rather unstable reference as a filament bulb for charging when the engine is controlled by a computer.
Anybody who happens to know the wattage of the lamp?

It seems like the neutral lamp also needs to be a filament type to activate the relay. I'll do some calculations and find a fitting resistance.

I connected a small RPM-meter yesterday and got i running, now i just need to modify it. :)

Seeing all your creative work makes me want to build yet another Triking and also buy an English Wheel to make the bodywork from scratch etc..!
Thank you! I too wants to build a another triking and i am not done with this one yet. :D It's a great callenge and silly fun. I got many hours of practice on the english wheel before its useful to me but i will get there in the end.

A small step forvard and one backward. Took some electrical tubes and made a sketch of how the frame could be made.

It definetly needs some adjustments before i am satisfied with the lines but it feels like a good start.

I could not resist a little test drive. Lets say the gravel road at home is not optimal, all wheels loose grip all the time. :D
There is sadly a terrible knocking from the engine, probably the valves. Anybody got similar noices?

(The 2x45 -> 48 mm exhaust gives a really nice sound but i think i will have to soften it a bit more to pass inspection and keep whats left of my hearing)

I also found some oily residue in the injectors, is this normal?

I did watch your Youtube video but its hard to tell from there. It seems the louder knocking that is present is not engine RPM based and more ground speed based. Moto Guzzi do have some valve noise but nothing like what is heard in the video. Sounds like its maybe a driveshaft u-joint rubbing somewhere.

Thank you!
There was a rubbing between the drive shaft and a piece of alu sheet that has been fixed. The knocking from the engine sounds completely different in real life. I have ordered a valve recall kit since it seems like most guzzi-knowers recommend it to be fixed. It would be a bit of a bummer of the engine fails when i finally can start driving it. :?

Will return tomorrow with more photos.

I wanted a oil pressure meter but i'm too cheap to buy the kit from Stein dinse (14 e! for a banjo bolt) so i made my own as usual. Started with a left over coupling, brazed on a bit and threaded with 1/8 npt.

Fitted.

And then covered it all up.

I finally took curage to open up the oil sump but there was none of the glitter of sadness that i feared. Will change the oil filter even if it looked new and has ordered a recall kit that will come in a month.

And has finally started replacing the electrical piping with proper steel. A lot of measuring, cutting and some words i wont translate :D but at least its going in the right direction again.

We bought a new old house without a proper garage so now i have a real deadline, it got to be ready before midsummer. With two parallel house restorations it will be a buzy but fun sping.
