Optimising the EFI engine

Post by peakrock » Tue Jul 23, 2019 8:50 am

I've just read this article on the web by Mike Haven about setting up the EFI engine.

https://mphcycles.com/tuning-the-guzzi-efi/

In the article he mentions the Twin Max electronic balancer which seems like a good piece of kit. I must confess I haven't really bothered much about balancing the throttle bodies on my engine as it seems to run quite well and if it's not broke, don't fix it...

However, now that I'm building another EFI engined Triking I'm minded to perhaps buy one as I'll have another engine to set up. Has anyone used this particular piece of kit as it seems to require drilling and tapping of the inlet manifolds to fit adapters for the vacuum hoses rather than just placing them within the throttle bodies...

Thanks Dave

Hi,
I always use a CarbMate which I am guessing is similar. Its an electronic balancer and I use on my twin carb MG Convert various Triumphs and Triking. I would not be without it. Don't think it matters if EFI or carbs. The MG carb engines do have a screwed plug in the intake manifolds. No idea if the EFI does. I also don't think the make of balancer is critical as long as somebody has tried it which they have in the article.
Hope helps
Steve

We have had consistently good results with this one, http://shop.trikingsportscars.co.uk/pro ... -balancer/
