Wish I had thought about using hair dryer. Have stuck and unstuck the vinyl round the corners so many times that I will now leave it alone - it is not perfect but does look very acceptable.

Finally went for MSVA test this morning and passed with flying colours. The tester was very complimentary about the car and the quality of the kit. Very satisfying but won’t be doing any celebrating due to personal circumstances but will press ahead with registration, although am told big backlog at DVLA.

Trying to sort out form V55/4 for registration and there are 3 questions (16,35,47) that relate to emissions and which I can’t answer. Alan thinks I should have been given emissions printout with MSVA certificate but I wasn’t. Do I have to fill in these questions?

Many thanks to Chris who came round today and helped me complete form V55/4. Apparently you don’t need to answer the questions on emissions - this was later confirmed in an email from DVLA who also advised that you are not given emission details as part of MSVA test.
This leaves form V627/1 (Built up vehicle report). Chris’s Type 4 was built for him and did not use a donor bike so was not relevant. If anyone has completed one of these forms based on a self build and donor bike I would appreciate hearing from you. I think you have to send the V5 for the bike with the form and then get an age related registration number but can’t remember how I filled the form in when I built the JZR.

Big thanks to John, Richard, and Mark, for the info that stopped me cocking up my registration application. I do think the Gov websites are very misleading but I was about to submit form V55/4 and it needed to be V55/5 as I am applying for an age related registration. Have spent most of the day sorting this out but am fairly confident that it is now correct. In between sorting this out I have started fitting the windscreen following some good guidance from Alan. Tomorrow should see black goo everywhere but hopefully not on paintwork.
Time for a beer (or two).

Good to see you're almost on the road with the Triking Tony. I used plenty of masking tape when I did mine, hardest job was getting the right amount of sealant on the flange - enough to avoid air pockets but not too much so it squidges out everywhere - it's awkward to clean off any excess once the screen is in position due to the narrow angle between it and the body. Carefully followed Alan’s guidance and screen went on with no dramas, and more importantly no black goo on paintwork. The only cleaning up to be done is on the glass and the metal brackets, once the goo is fully dry. Once that is done it just leaves getting my “cheapo” windscreen wiper working - I am using a Landrover type wiper motor (approx £25 on eBay) with a simple linkage driving a wiper on driver’s side only, although it would not be too difficult to make it drive two wipers.

Quite pleased with the finished windscreen, and have now fully fitted the single wiper. Wasn’t quite straight forward as I had set it up to park to the centre of the screen, so had to reverse the arms on the motor and wiper spindles and it then parked correctly.

Had a nice weekend away at my daughter’s, got home today to find Triking registration approved, much to my surprise.I only posted the forms on 19th August so DVLA has only taken 3 weeks to process the application - was expecting at least 2 months. Have rushed out and bought number plates which are now fitted, so peace and quiet of neighbourhood could well be shattered tomorrow.
Now that the car is fully complete (apart from any teething problems) I would like to thank everybody for all the helpful advice throughout the build, particular reference to Alan for being such a great guy to deal with.
Must try to avoid getting any more points on licence!!
