Shipping Triking?

Post by Spaniard » Tue Mar 17, 2026 5:28 pm

I have my Triking currently for sale in USA and am finding it difficult to sell. I might be moving from the US to the Netherlands and was wondering if anyone knows of any Trikings in the Netherlands and how the registration works and if it is even possible to sell? Maybe I would have better luck selling it there.

There is a big following in Holland.

Yes you can register Triking in the Netherlands.
I had my Triking registered in 2022 and there are as far as I know 6 or 7 Trikings recently registered.
I think Henk means new ones

Sell it on Bring A Trailer auction site. It will sit for six days with one or two bids. Then on day 7 the world suddenly wakes up and starts bidding. At the end of the time it is sold! If someone bids at the last second the bidding continues for another two minutes. This allows everyone to bid without sniping.
I sold my Citroën 2CV on that site. It worked really well for me! It would have been impossible in North Carolina. Most of my neighbors couldn’t spell 2CV.

It would need to be over 30 years old with a document trail to prove it, otherwise you will be hit with an import tax as well as VAT which when combined would be around 30% of the value of the Triking. I would also recommend using one of the specialist important companies based around Rotterdam as it's quite a long and difficult process on your own (speaking from recent experience).

Not all 6 or 7 Triking are registered from newly build.
There are about 3 or 4 registered that were imported from England.
So as far as I know you can still import and register a Triking from abroad even from across the big pond.
But if you want to know the rules you could contact the RDW (government) to help you out and advice on the vehicle demands.
Welcome to the Netherlands.
