Hagon shock absorber spring weights

Post by iant-s » Fri Jun 21, 2024 5:17 pm

Having given my side panniers their first outing to Telford, I have observed that the additional 15kg per side is compressing my front suspension more than I am happy with. With 2 people, the kit under the bonnet and 30kg the original Triking supplied Hagon stainless steel shock absorbers have only 20 or 30mm free travel left. This is with the pre-load collars at the middle setting. I set them to the highest pre-load and the suspension upper wishbone is now level with the road, so I am happy with that for now but I would like the shocks to be at middle so I have pre-load adjustment up and down.
Onto questions then;
1. What is the spring weight I have fitted?
2. What spring weights are available?
3. Would 12mm thick spacer collars to add pre-load to my existing springs provide sufficient extra spring weight?
4. Would a change to the latest Nitron units fitted with a suitable spring weight be a superior solution?
Your thoughts and advice appreciated.

Hi Ian,
Don't know much about basic shocker spring rates.
The Hagon Nitro "Comfort" option front suspension is a far superior fitment, giving full range of adjustment for comfort to suit your driving style.
It will need new bottom and top wishbones to accomodate the longer shockers making total job a bit pricey, but well worth the investment.
