New Trigger Handbrake

Post by RobH » Mon Mar 25, 2024 4:20 pm

Just installing a new handbrake and cabling, having trouble adjusting at the caliper end. The old handbrake seemed to have a very long ratchet travel but grips at the last 3 clicks. The new handbrake seems to have less travel/ratchet and even shortening cable is still not biting. The hydraulic foot brake works fine. Would loosening the arm on the caliper and repositioning to shorten the range work or would this screw up the caliper setup or do I just need to push foot brake to seat the caliper? The caliper is the Grimeca

Rob
The centre adjuster on the caliper may need screwing in a bit, till it nips the pads then slacken a bit.
Slacken cable before doing that.
Then adjust cable till hand brake lever works.
Good luck.

Thanks I thought that might be the case so was checking before disturbing the set up. The videos on the internet mainly for cars seemed to show it was a hit and miss way to set up loosening and tightening the bolt but also showed a backstop on the caliper lever to aim for which the grimeca does not have.
