Fitting seats

Morning all

What's the 'normal' way to fit the seats? I'd like to raise the front of mine under my knees, and it's currently resting on a 3"x2" wooden batten - I could screw the wood to the seat base, and then put a couple of screws throught the bottom of the car, but that felt a bit hokey... And I assume the seat mounts need to be capable of handling stress in an accident. I've seen adjustable seat brackets for kit cars, but they all seem to raise the seat a few inches - which would rather negate the lowered floor Alan kindly made for me! - so I'm trying to work out the simplest solution.

Can you just screw them to the floor?!

Or has anybody found any suitable brackets that don't push you up too far?

I did just raise the front of the seats with wood, fixed by screwing up through the floorpan.
I left the seats resting on the wood and they don't move. I did screw studs into the seat bases to stop any forward movement, but I'm not sure I needed to. I left them removable as I wanted to store the tonneau cover under one and made a tray to have a toolkit under the other.
It makes such a difference to raise the front of the seats!!!

I made my seat bases a bit longer than standard to give support under the back of the knee.
Screwed a piece of wood (about 65mm) under the front edge of the seat which then comes to rest just behind the chassis cross member preventing forword movement. Adjust position to suit you.
Rear of the seat sits on the floor.
To keep the seat backrest in the correct position I screwed a piece of wood to the upper edge of the rear floor chassis cross member.
This all allows the seat base to be lifted out to give access to a tapered tool tray.

Thanks Tony, that's a good idea - I'm with both of you, it definitely needs knee support! Sounds like bits of wood being screwed into things is all acceptable though, which was my first approach, so I will continue in that direction! Thanks both

The front piece of timber is screwed through from the top, before upholstery
The rear piece is drilled and tapped m5 through the upper edge of the box section, not right through.

Gotcha, thanks Tony. The ship might have sailed on one of those options but I think I can make it work!
