Gear oil specs

Post by Robmason » Wed Aug 10, 2022 5:46 pm

Which oil do UK owners use for gearbox, reverse box and differential?. Gutsibits say fully synthetic 80W 90 should be used but I haven't found any in the UK (and Gutsibits don't stock it)
Thanks
Rob

Don't see any need for fully synthetic oil, semi synthetic would be equally as good in gearbox and Diff. 1 lt is enough for both.
I use engine oil in the reverse box.
Bear in mind the Guzzi box is made like a tractor.

Hi Rob,
I thought you might like this schedule copied from the bike handbook.
For the reverse box this from the instructions from the Nova website: Lubrication is by splash and requires 120ml of any multipurpose ATF or light engine oil: [5W-40].

For the rear unit I use RedLine Heavy as picture.
Hope this helps

Thanks both, very helpful. Just getting prepared for first service, hence the request.
I drove tractors for years (first one was a Fordson Major, indestructible) and yes, the Guzzi box is like them.
