Rear for light requirement for MSVA

Post by gogboy » Wed Jan 28, 2026 10:25 pm

What is the situation regarding the fitting of a rear fog lamp to a Triking. Is it required?

It seems to me that they come under motorcycle rules and therefore do not need one BUT if one is fitted, it has be within spec as for IVA and will be tested accordingly.

So if I am correct, if you don’t have one fitted it won’t be part of the test.

Thanks.

That is my experience at a very thorough MOT centre I use.

With previous Trikings I have used the 21W element of the Number plate lamp as the fog lamp. I don't have a fog lamp currently on the T4 and it has had two MOT's in my ownership without issue.

Thanks Richard!
I take it that it also sailed through the MSVA test without a problem?
