Engine hesitation

Post by Chapin1 » Thu Aug 21, 2025 10:31 pm

Just getting my T4 on the road , my engine is a 1200 cc 2016 8 V from a stelivo. It is fuel injected and I’m running 40 psi (2BAR) when talking off or cruising when I accelerate it has a hesitation very noticeable, any suggestions? No motoguzzi dealers within reasonable distance.

2016 Stelvio had roller tappets, so it's not that.
is that with the engine hot or cold?
What air intake system are you using?
It can be a symptom of poor injector spray pattern caused by gummed-up injectors, maybe give 'em a clean and try again.

Hi, If you mean a pronounced "flat spot", in my case between approx. 3-4k rpm, then I found the problem to be in the exhaust. On the bike they use twin short pipes into one silencer, but on the Triking two separate long pipes are used with, in my case, "straight through" boxes.
I found that fitting "decibel breakers" into the pipes just as they enter the silencers to give a slight back pressure gave an improved resonance in the pipes and the problem was completely solved. Happy Days!
If you choose to try this I can supply you with with dimensions.
Regards Dave

Hi Mike, Yes, they fit into the ends of the pipes prior to fitting the silencers. This also is assuming you have space in them to allow the gasses to flow.
It would be easier to communicate by e-mail. Contact me on dave.richards54@yahoo.co.uk
