Well spotted Eric.
The ‘High Lode’ water coarse (also known as Bury Brook) still runs under Great Whyte in Ramsey.
It’s quite a straight route, ‘sailing’ a boat along there would have been fine with a tail wind.
Going tother way may have been a problem.
The main product being conveyed in that era was eels.
I took the picture last Sunday at the very start of the bike meet.
Very crowded later.

Don't get me wrong, Richard, there are loads of pubs here, but they almost all have really boring names, and because they're all "new" compared to the UK pubs, we don't have those cute pub signs, either. Hmmmmm. A challenge indeed.

The sun came out today so a run to a NT in Dorset, Kingston Lacy and picked up a few pubs on route

A 130 mile round trip across Exmoor with a group of Westfields, a little faster than my normal run out but great fun, the little Triking kept pace with the big boys😀
