Left foot rest and remote brake reservoirs

Post by V10Mike » Sun Apr 07, 2024 2:46 pm

I have been finding long runs in my Triking difficult due to getting cramp in my left leg. I am at the limit for legroom in a T3, and have nowhere to rest my left foot when I am not using the clutch. The narrow footwell precludes a conventional "dead pedal" to the left of the clutch, so I put my mind to coming up with a "flip away" footrest. The final design is hinged above the pedals, and sprung in the up position. I hook it down with my foot when I need a rest, and then just shuffle my foot to the right when I want it to spring away. Seems to work well when static, now just need to try it on a long run.

Footrest down -note it sits proud of the clutch pedal
I have also changed my master cylinders to 1/2" bore to reduce braking force, and added remote fluid reservoirs. These are both easier for viewing the level and refilling, and since they are nearly level with the calipers seem to have eliminated the drain back that caused a long brake pedal after a period of non-use, as reported elsewhere on the forum.
