Donor bike V5 and reg number

Post by Cliveb » Mon Nov 01, 2021 3:21 pm

Can anyone give me some advice on this. I'm getting organised for my T3 build and have already sold some of the Donor bike parts .
Is it best to keep the frame and V5 until the build is passed and registered-- I assume DVLA will check the Donor bike details, and has anyone applied to use the original registration number for the new build. .
Thanks

It seems best to keep the frame and V5 from the donor until the Triking has passed the MSVA and is registered. The frame can then have the number ground off before you sell it though my experience was that no-one is really interested in buying a secondhand frame - in the end I got rid of it with a bunch of other low value parts for about £30 on eBay..

On my first build I was issued with an age related number, on my second build I'd already bought a personalised plate which it was registered with.
