Advice please, I tried the search but to no avail.
I notice all Triking’s I have seen run bike tyres.
Has anyone tried a more classic style like Blockleys? The likes of Morgan run a more square cut design

Heidenau K28 is a sidecar tyre with a nice block tread and a square-ish section.

I've had a pair of Heidenau on the front for over 9500mls. Just bought a new pair ready to fit, existing are still legal but time to get the levers out.
Good grip wet and dry.
They look far superior to bike tyres.
Top marks from me.

Metzeler makes a sidecar tire a bit less pricey that heidenau, Nice vintage looking tread. I’ve no experience their road ability yet, my project is still on the build cradle so ymmv.

I second the Heidenau. They work well but then again its the only tire I have tried. 3000 miles and they are still going strong. Wet grip seems ok but I try to not drive in the rain. Hurts more than you would think.

I'm on the hunt for new front tyres for the wide rim Type 4 wheels on my new Triking. The original ones I bought have a defect so I've borrowed a pair of wheels with Mitas tyres on which I quite like, lots of tread and they seem to work well. They're priced at £58 each on the web so tempting... I've also read the previous posts about tyres on the forum so I know there are mixed views about the Mitas. The Avon AM7 is an option as is the Metzeler Block K and the Heidenau too. Then there are the Michelin Pilots that Dick and Mark recommend...

I would like to take advantage of the extra rubber the 4.5 inch rim potentially gives me so has anyone else got this rim width and what front tyres did you go for?

Thx Dave

I think I'm going for these tyres - they can be used tubed or tubeless as they have a butyl rubber lining apparently - obviously need tubes with the spoked wheels. A 130/70 x 18 will fit my rim - has anybody used this tyre at all ?

I bought a pair of 130/70 x 18 Michelin Road Classic from MyTires in the end and fitted them to the rims. These replace the Michelin Pilots. A bit of a job when they're cold and stiff but they went on ok. Here's a pic during the balancing process, I think I have enough wheel weights don't you...

Driving report will follow once they're worn in...
