Hi everyone,
This is Phil & Hilary and guess what, we did not sell our green 1998 factory built T2 which we have had for 22 years and so its been in careful storage for the last 6 years and this is my first post on the new forum!
Having got my eyesight sorted its time to update the trike and get it back on the road - our 1927 Austin Chummy is good fun but I need some more three wheel motoring before time runs out!
So far have fitted new Triking hub stainless wheels, stainless mudguard stays, made my "vintage" spring steel steering wheel quick release, electric remote sender and electric smiths oil gauge, wrapped the front pipes and fitted side exhaust shields.
Just finishing off a new modular rear hub (had it 10 years!) and wow the generic brake plate I bought 10 years ago and never fitted is an interesting challenge!
As ever Alan has been so helpful - many thanks and great to chat with Richard (Doverhay) again and pick up some good tips.
A member of our family has just retired from teaching engineering apprentices and before he left he got them to CNC machine the the saddle bearings for my 1930 outside handbrake which I have wanted to fit since we had the trike.
That just leaves the final challenge when I've tested this lot which is to retro fit a Triking reverse into our non reverse T2.
When this is all done we hope to meet up again with Triking friends old and new!
Best wishes
Phil & Hilary

Great to see you back Phil & Hilary.
Having recently stripped my T3 to fit doors, which took me 3 wks to take the body off and do all the welding, it's now not such a daunting task.
My thoughts about fitting the gearbox, good access which would meen being able to turn the chassis upside down and on its sides to give proper access for the necessary welding, light as possible with engine out, body off etc. Not going to be easy but you have the skills.

Re: WE'RE BACK !
Thanks for the welcome Richard & Tony!
Amazing job on fitting those doors Tony, but I am hoping to retro fit the reverse without a total strip down - perhaps a compromise between good access and key hole surgery!
Ideally I would only want to take out engine and gearbox and rear suspension and strip the central tunnel and internal upholstery and Alan has sent me some useful pics of the area concerned.
Fitting my vintage handbrake which will have its shaft going through the side of the car into two saddle bearings mounted on the floor just in front of the seat and then into the tunnel will be a useful training exercise in access!
So far no feedback from anyone (apart from Alan) who has retro fit a Triking reverse into an early non reverse T2, so looking to be an interesting challenge and still a lot to do before I even think about starting!
Best wishes to all
