Detachable steering boss size

Post by AndrewH » Thu Jun 27, 2024 6:02 pm

I have a D1 Spec slim detachable steering boss with a standard 70mm PCD 6 bolt fitting. I think Triking might have a smaller PCD on the end of the steering column. Does anyone know what size it is or whether an adapter plate is available please. I can see a 40mm 3 bolt to 70mm adapter. Is the Triking 3 bolt 40mm?

I had trouble with this when I installed a detachable steering wheel. I first bought a unit of eBay or Amazon and it was garbage. Way to much play in the unit. After looking at the options I contacted Alan at Triking and purchased one from it and it was a good quality unit and simple installation.

On the Triking QD steering wheel the slined part is welded to the steering column shaft.
The PCD looks to be 50mm on the 3 hole mounting.
(Without stripping, measured with steel rule, 43.5 hole centres X 1.154 = 50.199)

The std Triking boss is actually imperial 2" PCD fixing holes, this is to suit the better quality QR and similar type motorsport hubs which are mostly 2". Usually if the hubs are marked or sold as "FIA approved" they are OK quality. The std Triking 90mm dia fixed boss adapter is quite thick so could be re-machined to accept a smaller PCD.
