Triking wanted

Post by Donaldo » Tue Jan 28, 2020 7:34 am

Hello, I am on the lookout for a Triking. I am not new to the fun of three wheels and have had a Morgan M3W 2013 and a JZR. Trikings have always appealed and I love the Moto Guzzi power plant. I even visited the factory in my Morgan on a trip to Lake Como.

Budget is a bit of a constraint just now sadly so I’m probably at entry level status.

Any advice is most welcome

Regards Donaldo

Hi Donaldo

Keep an eye on the Car & Classic site. Most likely place to see fresh sales.

Have a word with Alan at HQ, he has his ear to the grapevine.
Good luck.

I saw this on the internet, the pain of not being able to register after the build of a beautiful car must be devastating.

Looks to be a fair price for this one listed for sale in Shropshire https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1140141

Not easy to find many Triking. I like this but no reverse and not a huge saving on the two factory cars available.

Decisions, Decisions!!

The factory know of a 500cc probably a T2 about eight years old.

I had enough speed from a Honda 500 in a JZR so wonder if a Monza unit will be at least as good?

It can of course be updated with a big block and maybe add a reverse gear at the same time. By the time this is done I might be better with the 1100 for sale on car and classic.

Luckily it's not Cyclecar weather right now anyway.

Thanks in anticipation if any of you gurus can advise.

Hi Donald, you are only just over the border so any snow you may have will be gone soon. Triking time approaches fast. Mine goes out all year round, very handy for shopping trips!
I’ve seen the 500 that Alan is selling for an owner but not recently. You could have a lot of fun in that as it is but would lend itself to an upgrade, depending on your approach to driving.
The one in Shropshire has not been seen out much but with the body detachable, would be much easier to fit a reverse box. Can’t help thinking that body fixed with Zeus fasteners is going to rattle a bit, just saying! Worth negotiating on the price.
Good luck
Tony

Many thanks Tony,

Good observations and I look forward to a turn in the weather.
