Re: VMCC Founders Day 2021 , Stanford Hall, Leics.

It's looking great for Sunday! I'm driving down Saturday afternoon and camping overnight in my van towing the Triking down in a trailer. I'm in a blue VW Caddy if anyone else is also camping though the Triking is fairly obvious!

It sounds like a sensible decision Dick but it would have been nice to meet up there. I'm going down the night before and camping in my VW Caddy, prob take the Triking in the trailer I bought off you as I haven't finished making the braked A frame yet.

Re: Build tread (kind of)

Seeing all your creative work makes me want to build yet another Triking and also buy an English Wheel to make the bodywork from scratch etc..! However, I'd better finish off my other kit car project first! Look forward to seeing it in the flesh.

Thanks Andy, I might go down the night before and sleep in the van, is anyone else going to camp overnight?

Re: New member somewhere in UK

Congratulations on taking the plunge and getting a donor bike, it's an interesting and rewarding experience building your own Triking and incorporating your own ideas and preferences as you build it. Great advice from Tony (Westendguzzi) too about riding it around a bit etc before stripping it down ...

Re: Toe in

The Triking is sensitive to tire pressures and sizes - what tires are you running front and back and what pressures have you got in them? Shimming the top wishbones back will increase the castor angle and is usually around 6 degrees or thereabouts - I downloaded a protractor app to my phone and held...

Re: Under-bonnet stowage

Good idea Tony, is the flat sheet above the passenger foot well for the mug of tea when you're working on it? (I noticed the giveaway ring mark ;) )

Re: Toe in

My recent experience with the Trackrite was that at the typical Triking setting of 3mm to 4mm toe in it shows around a quarter of a degree of toe in which seems to be borne out by the chart previously mentioned. I think the Trackrite is useful as a quick check as to whether you have toe in or toe ou...

Re: New member somewhere in UK

I echo what Tony said about the California engine, on both my builds the engine had done about 36,000 miles - it seems most bikes don't do anywhere near the mileage the engine is capable of but I have read of people who've done 100,000 + miles. On both my engines I just changed oil and filter and th...
