Rust prevention

Decided to do a fairly comprehensive anti rust treatment before starting build. Used the polyurethane sealant on all joins inside the tunnel, underside of floor, area around rear suspension, and in the “V” section in front of the tunnel. Then applied a heavy coat of gloss black paint, not worrying t...

Re: Type 3 build

Thanks Bill, will bear your comments in mind although do not plan to use car for long trips or touring as, unfortunately, my wife’s general health means she is not able to get in such a vehicle. I will probably get more enjoyment building the car than driving it, but look forward to regular outings ...

Another pic. Stays are now painted ready to fit. Next job is to apply sealant to all areas that could trap moisture.

Type 3 build

Have got chassis set up on trestles in garage and started build. Had a few problems with the rear brake bracket but Alan is making a new one to suit. Couldn’t resist fitting front suspension, went together easily and looks great. Decided to fit a rear mudguard to keep that area cleaner, bought a pla...

Swinging arm oil leaks

Back in 2013 there was a discussion on the old forum about oil leaking from the UJ end of the swinging arm if it is not pointing downwards to the rear (eg when car is fully loaded). Replies suggested that this should not happen as the UJ bearing has a built in oil seal. The sw/arm from my donor bike...

Re: Triking owners in Kent area

Hi Chris and others, more than happy to meet up for a chat. You are welcome to come and see what I am doing with my type 3. Although I built a JZR, the Triking is almost more difficult to build because it is a much more developed and engineered kit. Having said that, I know the build process is goin...

Re: Insurance

Was browsing forum and found this post re high insurance costs.I used a broker called AIB for my JZR and decided to insure my Triking with them even though it is only a collection of parts at the moment. The premium was £145 for fully comprehensive, £11000 value, 1000 miles per annum (least they wil...

Triking owners in Kent area

Have now got type 3 kit in garage and about to start build. Are there any other members/owners who live in the Kent area? If so, would like to get together and swap ideas etc.

Rear tyre

Have type 3 on order and in process of getting donor parts ready. To begin with I will use the standard 17” California rear wheel but need to replace the tyre. Any recommendations?
