Re: Fuel pressure regulator
Hi John, Really appreciate your info. The regulator is std type fitted to Cali EV between 1997 - 2000. It has 3 main ports (plus the breather on the top), the one on the underside being the return to the tank with the horizontal ones being the supply from the filter and the feed to the injectors. As...

Re: Fuel pressure regulator
John, thanks for info. There is very slow drip from “breather pipe” but if it only goes to atmosphere would it still work if I simply plugged the pipe?
Cheers, Tony

Fuel pressure regulator
Am almost ready to start engine so put some petrol in tanker and ran pump to check for leaks. All seemed ok but a bit later I noticed wet patch on floor. Inspection revealed a very slow drip coming from the breather pipe attached to the top of the pressure regulator. Maybe it will sort itself out wh...

Re: Build progress
Can’t stand (or understand) wiring so pleased to say have just completed ignition wiring and everything worked first time!! Will have to do some lengthening/shortening and tidy things up once all the rest of the wiring is done. Can’t try starting engine, lack of exhaust system, but fuel pump works a...

Re: Build progress
Unexpected progress! Thanks to help from Chris Pleasance, who spent the day with me, and advice from Richard the engine is in. Even with an engine crane I would have struggled on my own so Chris’s offer of help was rapidly accepted. Had problems getting the UJ to clear the bulkhead - had to put extr...

Re: Build progress
Brakes, incl handbrake, finished. Petrol tank and all fuel lines fitted. Reverse gearbox, driveshafts and bearings fitted - this part of build has caused numerous cuts and grazes to hands so quite pleased it’s done. Was supposed to be away this weekend but had to cancel so have spent some time on da...

Re: Build progress
Decided to fit pressure regulator close to filter, at low level on front bulkhead. Made and fitted cable trays in bottom of tunnel to give more fixing points for cable ties, and fitted handbrake system. Spent a lot of time deciding where to route brake hoses, but am quite pleased with chosen solutio...

Re: Build progress
Enclose pics of fuel pressure regulator from 98 Cali EV donor. I propose mounting it low down (almost at floor level) in the gearbox area of the front bulkhead - fixing to sidewall with bracket. Bearing in mind that the filter is fitted behind the gearbox mtg, is this a good place, is there a better...

Have finally completed undersealing and painting the covers to close in underside of tunnel. Have also finally decided to stop frigging about, listen to those who have already completed builds, and to fit petrol pump in back of tunnel and the filter by the cross member behind gearbox mounting. Hopef...
