Re: Build progress

Hi Chris, am quite sure you will be in the driving seat first. Progress on bike is extremely leisurely so pop in any time.

Re: Build progress

Leisurely progress, but have finally got body ready for paint. The process of filling then rubbing down has been repeated many times but have now applied an etch primer followed by a primer/filler and am quite pleased with the finish. Have also found a local spray shop who will apply the top coat an...

Re: Build progress

Planning to give whole body a coat of etch primer as this seems best way to highlight pin holes. Did a trial area of approx 2 square feet and found 6 pin holes. Once entirely done in etch primer will use fine filler and then a coat of primer. Am hopeful that I have now found a local car body shop wh...

Re: Build progress

Things have slowed down due to weather and laziness! Body is in shed, all rubbed down ready for lots of filling and making good. Don’t enjoy this so doing little bit at a time. Finally got fuel pressure constant by fitting new regulator from Alan, using liquid filled gauge that I already had. Have a...

Re: Build progress

Hi, yes the relays on the glove box will be covered by body but should be able to remove them, if necessary, by taking off Ecu first. Won’t be easy but hopefully will not need to replace. Have noted what all the fuses and relays are for - didn’t do it when I built JZR and caused a few problems. The ...

Re: Build progress

Thanks for all responses, including the one from Spaniard. Will check with Alan re position of steering wheel, but had assumed that UK had, as always, got it right. Wiring is now completely finished and everything works, although I do seem to have relays everywhere thanks to my knowledgeable neighbo...

Re: Build progress

Progress had slowed down but got quite a bit done in last couple of weeks. Replacement fuel pressure regulator fitted and set up (be careful with very cheap Chinese pressure gauges. The one I bought was reading nearly 25% out before filling with petrol and disintegrating!!), mudguards painted and fi...

Re: Build progress

Fired her up for first time. Started almost immediately and runs well, albeit rather loud with no silencers fitted. Had hoped that getting it running might cure leak from pressure regulator but not the case. No leak whilst engine running so started to celebrate but then noticed very slow drip when s...

Re: Fuel pressure regulator

Hi John, Will try starting with “plug” out. Will then buy aftermarket regulator. There is one called a PR159 which is similar to existing with same ports and costs about £80. Most others don’t seem to have a return to the tank so are presumably not suitable. If anyone can recommend a type that will ...
