Re: Reverse Gearbox Type 1

The main concern here is what you would do to the transmission tunnel. The Triking uses basically a backbone chassis ala Lotus. Any modifications would require significant reinforcement. Alan's reverse box comes complete with drive shafts that would allow positioning somewhat into the tunnel (with r...

Re: Reverse Gearbox Type 1

On a lighter note. I have a collapsible walking stick I inherited from my late mother in-law. I could lean slightly out of the car and push it backwards on flat ground with little effort. Collapse it and it would go under my legs in front of seat. On the rare occasion I need to back up I just get ou...

Re: Reverse Gearbox Type 1

As per Peakrock this is what a JZR uses, but they have a tube backbone which provides enough clearance to mesh a motorcycle starter to a I think Honda timing gear welded to the drive shaft. The motor pivots to engage. I went around and around on this and decided as there are no narrow roads in Alber...

Re: Anormal tyre wear

No play in swingarm bearings. Adjusted and greased them last year. The car has only done around 12,000 km since new. Definitely sounds like miss alignment, but like my Guzzi Convert has no adjustment. Wheel appears absolutely vertical with spirit level compared to ground. If I remember correctly Guz...

Anormal tyre wear

Hi, I have one of Alan's converted guzzi rear wheels with a car tyre. Firestone 145 The tyre is wearing almost down to no tread on only the left side as viewed from the rear. The Triking is a Type 1 left hand drive so it is the drivers side of the tyre. I rarely drive alone and although the wife is ...

Re: carb upgrade

One thing I did find was the plastic carb to head elbows are hard if not impossible to find, but I believe you can use aluminium ones. Worth checking before buying PHFs. I also use the K&N filter that joins both carbs together.

Re: broke clutch cable

Venhill sounds like a plan.
I have plenty of good outer cables so a few yards of inner will go a long way.
One of the disadvantages of living in Calgary is most things have to be mail ordered. When I grew up in London everything could be found locally.

Re: broke clutch cable

Made lots of cables over the years using similar to your method, but large iron. Must make a pot! Decided to fix the existing cable as nipple was on the floor. Could not get the inner cable to take solder even with lots of scuffing and Bakers fluid so low temp silver solder which worked OK. Not goin...
