Re: Type 1 Wiring Loom question

Hi Tony I meant to draw more bulb symbols instead of earth symbols - I was in too much of a rush! So the green/brown wire goes to the indicator switch which then directs it to the left or right side indicator. What I really need is to know what the hazard rocker switch connections are when the switc...

Re: Type 1 Wiring Loom question

Another question you may be able to help with please. I've nearly finished the rewiring apart from the hazard and indicator circuits. I have an eight pin connector block with 5 wires going to it. After speaking to Al we think it goes to a Hazard light rocker switch similar to that fitted on older mi...

Re: Speed humps.

I've not had a problem with grounding over speed bumps with my Type 2 or Type 3, it may be that you have shorter length coil overs at the back than standard. You could measure the free length and let us know. Two possible solutions; make up some short extensions for the top coil over mounts or upgra...

Re: Type 1 rebuild

I've been spending a lot of time on the electrics. I'm reusing the loom but as it was removed and not labeled up it's been a slow process working out what goes where, sometimes the multi meter has been needed to confirm things. I've also no idea where the switches were located so that coupled with a...

Re: Triking Meet 2024 – Shropshire

Great idea! Clare and I would be interested in attending though we have a family wedding to attend on 8th June so not around then for us. But if that turns out to be your best date then go with it.

Thanks Dave

Re: Brake light sensor location???

Hi Andy The brake light switch is often located on a 4 way union where the brake pipe from the front brake master cylinder splits to go to the front brakes. It's usually located near the right hand side of the steering rack on the chassis. Otherwise it might be actuated by the brake pedal itself, vi...

Re: Type 1 rebuild

Some more photos to show progress so far. The chassis is completely bare at this point and easily turned onto its side. Most of the access to the tunnel is through the side rather than underneath as on the Type 2 & 3. This shot from underneath shows the generally excellent condition, the outer panel...

Type 1 rebuild

You may have deduced from my recent Type 1 questions that I had possibly acquired a Type 1 and you'd be right! Several months ago I bought a Type 1 which was located on the Isle of Wight, which meant a bit of logistical planning was required to get it back to Norfolk. It's history is quite interesti...

Re: Type 1 Wiring Loom question

Thanks Alan, I found an enormous Lucas wiper motor and gearbox amongst the boxes of bits and the socket matches the plug. Just need to decide whether to keep it or go for the Golf wiper motor as per current Triking practice.

Cheers Dave
