Re: Bonnet Fasteners

On my early Type 1 I have studs in the bonnet which locate into the corresponding holes in the body. This simplifies fitting the bonnet. At the front I have hand knobs, so it's a one-handed reach to undo or re-fit them. Works well. At the rear I have hex nuts, but they're just under the dash and at ...

Re: Inertia reel seat belts

I fitted inertia reel belts to my last two Triumph TR4A's. This was easy enough with a couple of custom brackets, but then again there was a mountain of space behind the seats. Just had a look at my Type 1, and first thought is that there's no way to fit them without cutting a chunk out of the seat ...

Tacho cable

Before I race off and get a custom cable made, does anyone have any clue as to the donor vehicle for the tacho cable of an early Type 1? The inner is 1570mm long when it's in one piece. There is a somewhat unfortunate bend in the tacho cable where it leaves the engine and loops into the valley; has ...

The drill guide.

Tried to take a picture of the allen key in situ, but with the car now on the ground I can't get the allen key in there.

Re: Old coals.

Too late for the pictures, I'm afraid, but they would not show much. For my early car with an 850cc Le Mans III motor fitted, two 6.5mm holes, each 38.5mm forward of the rear edge of the cross member, and 220mm apart, 110 either side of the centreline, lined up perfectly with the hidden cap heads. I...

Re: Convert...

On re-reading the original post, I see that the transmission was also part of the question. That's tricky, too. Converts use a different drive shaft and uni assembly to all other big block Guzzis, with a finer spline, and they use a longer swinging arm, with a higher ratio final drive. So you could ...
