Re: Starting technique?
I normally start mine with just a little throttle, if it's been standing a while it might need several revolutions before it fires. You could try turning on the ignition and waiting a few seconds for the fuel pump to pressurise the system before starting. Also check where the temperature sensor is l...

Re: Cost of painting...
There is also the alternative of doing it yourself via a small paint roller and then “tipping off” with a quality paint brush. I’ve painted both the Trikings I built this way using International Paint which is formulated for fibreglass boat hulls so it’s fine for the Triking body. Total cost around ...

Re: Type 1 Front Brake Calipers wanted
That's brilliant - thanks a lot. I'm going to get the seal kits from Andover Norton - I note that they don't supply the dust cover seals which my iron calipers have but the existing ones appear to be ok. The hydraulic piston and crossover seals are the main things.

Re: Type 1 Front Brake Calipers wanted
Thanks to Al's expertise we've managed to get the calipers apart and the pistons out. They're AP Lockeed 3242 901C, have 41mm pistons and are made of cast iron. I've been unable to locate a seal kit partly because I have no idea what they were originally fitted to. As they're so old I'm thinking I m...

Re: Dellorto Carb help please
Thanks, that's really useful information. I don't know what cam the engine has but I've asked the previous owner who stripped it down and rebuilt it so fingers crossed. I guess it depends whether the engine was originally modified for more torque or outright power. Perhaps the sensible option is to ...

Dellorto Carb help please
The Type 1 I'm rebuilding has a Le Mans engine bored out to 950cc and has a pair of Dellorto PHM40 AD carbs on it. I'm at the point of doing the throttle cables and choke - but there doesn't appear to be any choke function on the carbs... :geek: I've looked on the web at pictures of the PHM40 and on...

Type 1 Front Brake Calipers wanted
My old calipers are seized up and it looks like the brake fluid inside has solidified, so I’m not sure if they’re worth rebuilding. I’m considering new ones from Triking but I thought I’d check if anyone has a good pair of calipers first?

Re: Neutral light
As Tony says, best to rig up a test bulb to check the switch actually works first. If you're in the UK, Car Builder Solutions have a good selection of warning lights so you might get one that's a close match to your existing ones.

Re: fuel injection
Hi Simon I had a look at the website for the fuel injection and it seems quite expensive - around £1750 for a Citroen 2CV for example. If you’re still considering injection you might be better off sourcing a California engine that’s already injected complete with ECU and wiring harness and selling y...

Re: fuel injection
Hi Simon I suspect you will find strong advocates for sticking with the carbs and equally strong advocates for fuel injection on the forum. It would be interesting to know how much the conversion to fuel injection will cost as that could be the main deciding factor. Personally I like the fact that I...
