Ivan Rattle is healthy but I agree is annoying. Richards pads system will certainly help in a similar way to shimming however my solution is: Make sure the caliper is set centrally to the disc, use copper grease on the back of the pads and after fitting bow out the split pins to reduce for and aft f...

Thanks. Good tip to pass on. You would think that as there is a UJ alignment would not be quite so critical. However in the area of the car which amplifies all sounds and vibration I agree and have found the straightest running is defiantly best.

Yes thanks. All OK. The bonnet is fixed by M6 set screws, one each side which go through the upper main body flange into to captive nuts bonded into the bonnet edge plus a central spring with hook which is mounted on top of the gearbox.
