Re: Horn at idle

I had problems with mine not producing sufficient voltages as well. It turned out to be a poor connection between the alternator and the voltage regulator. When I was researching how to troubleshoot mine, I found a source that said the voltage regulator should be outputing between 13.5 and 14.5 volt...

Re: Horn at idle

Ideally, the horn should work anytime the ignition is turned on, regardless if the engine is actually running or not. It should have power from an ignition switched source through the horn button to a relay and from the relay to the actual horn. A standard 4-pin relay should be sufficient. Using the...

Re: Triking Trifles

the only story I have to contribute is already in the "New Build Teething Issues" thread. http://forum2.trikingsportscars.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=930 I do have some pictures the friend of mine took at the C&C event. They are too large for posting to the forum and I could not resize them down far e...

Re: New build teething issues

I did not get the test drive in during the week, but decided to just "go for it" and took the Triking to the "cars & coffee" event. It is about 70 miles away (so about 140 miles round trip). I met up with a friend part way there and he followed me in his classic Mini. We often do this event together...

Re: Triking Trifles

I did not know there was a newsletter being made.

May I also be added to the list for receiving an emailed copy? "pdf" format is fine.

My email should be in my profile. If not visible, let me know and I will figure out how to get it to you.

Re: New build teething issues

The parts came in early, so I got to finish up the task list today. I am happy with the results so far. I hope to get at least one test drive in before next weekend. There is a "cars & coffee" event about 70 miles away that I regularly attend in my Mini. I am hoping to be confident enough in the Tri...

Re: New build teething issues

I got #1 and #3 from yesterday's "plan" accomplished. The new switch works very nicely - light braking turns on the brake lights and the pedal return turns them off. The new switch seems vulnerable to being hit by the bottom of my foot, but it actually is not. My normal foot angle leaves lots of cle...

Re: New build teething issues

I did some diagnostics on the taillights today. 1) I tested the hydraulic brake light switch in isolation. It does work, but takes a lot of pressure on the pedal to activate it (more than I was trying yesterday). Light braking will not activate the switch. 2) I put a temporary manual switch in place...

Re: New build teething issues

Not sure if it is the switch or wiring. The left tailight is out completely (no running light and not brake light). The right taillight "appears" to have the running light, but not the brake light. I plan on "patching" in a temporary manual switch to use in verifying the wiring and bulb sockets. I h...
