Re: Coffee & Cake - Bodsey Farm
I'm unfortunately not going to be able to make this one Tony. A bit too far for me yet, I'll not be able to walk for a week

Re: Cost of painting...
I costed out respraying a SWB beach buggy (straight black, gold stripework, lacquer coat) two years ago; with prep materials but without labour time (good job too as I'm very, very expensive ;-) ) the cost was also £3000! (paint and materials quotes from Nu-Agane, Bedford) I just revisited this quo...

Re: Cost of painting...
In previous ownership, my Triking suffered extensive smoke damage after the owner's (Michael Sharpe) garage, containing his vintage car collection, was consumed by fire. The red paint was irredeemable, so Michael had the car resprayed in Ferrari Red at a cost of £3000, about fifteen years ago and TB...

Parked me next to the bins, they did. And not for the first time. Next meet, I'll get sponsorship from the local dumpster hire firm I think.
Good to be out again, even if it involved the rest of the day spent lying on the floor getting my back straight again

Re: Type 1 Front Brake Calipers wanted
If they're the same as mine, they're AP Racing CP2696 calipers, which have 41.3mm pistons. They're a standard AP Lockheed size, seal kits and pistons - in stainless too - are readily available online. They were fitted to Triumph Tridents and later Bonnies (I think Norton Commandos too, but I've neve...

Re: Insurance
Even more interesting...
FJ declined to insure my Triking a few years back as they 'don't insure bike engined cars'!

Re: Insurance
I've been with Flux for years, my premium hasn't changed at all in the last two years! I don't get how the insurance companies seem to just pluck figures from the air. Other than 'cos buying their product is compulsory.
Who did you go with this year, Mike, in case they do it to me this time round?

Re: Dellorto Carb help please
There's no choke on those, but starting mixture is enriched by tickling the carb, oldschool style. Off a Ducati 900, I think, my friend's MHR had a pair. How modified is your LM engine? What cam does it have? What valves? Has any porting work been done? If you can tolerate the faff of tickling the c...

Re: Gearbox oil filler point?
That's the gearbox filler, yes, but that's not a rubber plug. It's a cover/bung for the gearbox filler plug and fits into the hex recess of the plug to prevent it filling with muck and stopping the Allenkey from engaging properly. The rear drive bevel box should have one too, iirc. Flip it out and y...

Re: Oils etc
I have always used only Mobil 1 20W/50 or 10W/60 in Guzzi engines. I've been using it for so long I can't remember why, but with the sump off I can see that my Guzzi engines are the cleanest I've ever worked on inside. I think frequent changes are more important than oil types, new filter every thir...
