Re: Build progress

Great job, as expected, Tony. Bet you wish you had a longer drive! Not possible to trailer to nearby off road area? Best of luck with test, when you get it and hopefully we'll be able to meet up before summer is over.

Electrics - oh no!

I do not understand electrics. I believe any rules governing auto electrics are empirical and change on a daily basis. My indicators stopped working. Hazard lights were working o.k. Haz and ind are on separate fused circuits and relays. Replaced fuse for inds, no luck. Swapped relays and indicators ...

Re: Bonnet Fasteners

Thanks for everybodys input and ideas, but having had the bonnet on and off continuously whilst making my bulkhead, I've found the technique required to enable the screws to catch the captive nuts, and it is nowhere as problematic as before. Best left alone for now as works fine.

Re: Type 4 bulkhead

Hi Richard, In my previous life, before retirement, I could have done as I was an Autocad techie! It was the Blue Peter approach with glued pointers defining the inside shape of bonnet. This then transferred to plywood and much on/off fitting to establish size/height. Then ply template to 4mm ally w...

Type 4 bulkhead

Spent the week making an aluminium bulkhead to try and reduce noise and draughts in the cabin. Got to test it today and seems to help at lower speeds for noise and better all speeds for draughts. Thanks to Alan for sound deadening material and Mark Gallagher for guidance. Now got to replace indicato...

Re: Build progress

Fabulous job Tony but, stop faffing about with wiring and get your MSVA booked. That's the only thing that can hold you up now!

My cockpit edging looks like it's stuck on with clear silicon sealant, quite thick around the windscreen area though.

Re: Bonnet Fasteners

Thanks both for replies. I should add that I want stainless steel fasteners and not bothered if showing as long as quality is there on show. The over centre clamp idea seems simplest but the ones I've seen on web seem to pull on catch mounted in same plane as lever. On the Triking the catch would be...

Bonnet Fasteners

Who can advise good alternative to the long winded screws holding bonnet on?

Dzus would probably look best but seem problematic to install. There appear to be loads of alternatives available, so what have owners fitted and which ones work best?

Turn key type 4

Finally got my new Type 4 home. Factory built by Mark at Aerosport, 1200 2 valve engine. Light grey colour, gunmetal leather trim. Dash hydro-dipped walnut wood finish. Feels real strong, just got to get used to noise, clutch control (very light and too much travel) and being the "centre of attentio...
